BAPTISM
Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit, and the door which gives access to the other sacraments.  Through Baptism we are freed from sin and reborn as sons and daughters of God; we become members of Christ, are incorporated into the Church and made sharers of the Church's mission:  "Baptism is the sacrament of regeneration through water in the word" (Catholic Catechism).
At St. Michael Parish, members typically are baptized during infancy. Parents attend class that focus on the baptismal commitment and Christian parenting. Once the class has been completed, they may schedule a baptism on one of the predesignated dates available throughout the year. Parents are strongly encouraged to attend these classes BEFORE the birth of the child. Children and teens who have attained the age of reason (generally age 7) are enrolled in an adapted preparation process with other children or teens through the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA).
Adults who wish to join the Church may do so through the RCIA. More information is available through by contacting Deacon John Crerand or the Parish Office

St. Michael follows Church guidelines:
* Only those children who it is presumed will be raised Catholic may be                               baptized.
The presumption rest cheifly on the parents, practice of the Faith.
* Parents must attend one preparation class, which is offered on the second
Sunday of designated months at 1:30 P.M.
Godparents are encouraged to attend also.
* Only one Sponsor is required, although two are traditional. The sponsor                            must be a baptized, confirmed, and practicing Catholic at least 16 years
         of age.
Baptized non-Catholics may be Christian Witnesses, but not Sponsors.
* Babies from other parishes may be baptized only with permission of their                          own pastor.

BAPTISMS ARE HELD - 1ST AND 3RD SUNDAYS AT 1:30 P.M.

RECONCILLIATION

Those who approach the sacrament of Penance obtain pardon from God's mercy for the offense committed against Him, and are, at the same time, reconciled with the Church which they have wounded by their sins and which by charity, by example, and by prayer labors for their conversion.

Confessions are heard on Saturdays from 2:30 P.M. to 3:30 P.M.
Other times may be arranged by appointment.
To set up time to see a preist for the sacrament other than above
please call the Parish Office (614) 885-7814
CONFIRMATION

The reception of the Sacrament of Confirmation is necessary for the completion of baptismal grace.  By the sacrament of Confirmation, the baptized are more perfectly bound to the Church and are enriched with a special strength of the Holy Spirit.  Hence they are, as true witnesses of Christ, more strictly obliged to spread and defend the faith by word and deed.
At St. Michael Parish, baptized teens prepare for the Sacrament of Confirmation during their final year of grade school.
The children in the parish school 8th grade and PSR are fully prepared in Religion Class.
Baptized adults generally prepare for the sacrament through a series offered in the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA).
For more information concerning Confirmation please contact the Religious Education Office at 614-885-7814.

Confirmation is conferred each year by the Bishop.

One parent meeting is scheduled.
The one sponsor,     Must be at least 16 years of age.
May be of either sex.
Must be a Baptized, Confirmed, and Practcing Catholic.
(Same requirements as for a Baptism Sponsor)

MATRIMONY
The marriage covenant, by which a man and a woman established between themselves a partnership of the whole of life, is by its nature ordered toward the good of the spouses and the procreation and education of offspring:  This covenant between baptized persons has been raised by Christ the Lord to the dignity of a sacrament.
To be married at St. Michael Parish, please contact the Parish office prior to setting a wedding date.  Preparation takes about six months.

We are happy to witness the marriage of parishioner, and their children who come home to be married.  St. Michael  follows Diocesan guidlines:

ANOINTING THE SICK
By the sacred anointing of the sick and the prayer of the priests, the whole Church commends those who are ill to the suffering and glorified Lord, that he may raise them up and save them.  If you or a family member are in need of the Sacrament of the Sick, please contact a priest at 614-885-7814.

Anointing is appropriate for serious illness, accident or before a serious operation. Home visits are scheduled as needed. The Chaplin is the usual minister in the hospital. For scheduled surgery, it is appropriate to attend a Mass at St. Michael and be anointed immediately afterward, with family and friends praying with and for you.

Call the Parish Office at (614) 885-7814 to schedule visitation.
FUNERAL MASS - New Liturgical laws say that proper Wake Service is the Scriptural Vigil For The Dead. If anything is wanted besides that ( rosary, etc.,) it may be led by family or friends.

To schedule a funeral please call the Parish Office at
